I am a woman from the mountains

My body is from the plain,

But my soul is from the mountains.

My heart beats peaks,

beats faults,

beats rocks facing the sun,

day after day, 

year after year.

My body was born in the coastal plain,

But my blood comes from the mountains;

My spirit is rooted in the mountains.

from the Atlas Mountains on one side;

from the Gilboa Mountains on the other side.

A child running between flat fields,

while longing for mountains she never knew;

longing for the mountains of her grandmother's stories.

I am a woman from the mountains.

When I get near them,

I feel my heart beat.

I am alive.
